India's Economic Survey 2023-24 Highlights Robust Growth, Improved Fiscal Health
Subsidies to moderate in FY2025, Economic Survey 2024 projects
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present the Budget for the year 2023-24 on July 23, 2024
The Economic Survey for the year 2023-24 was tabled in Parliament on January 31, 2024, by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. The survey highlights India's robust economic growth, improved fiscal health, and challenges ahead.
The survey projects India's GDP growth at 6.5-7.0% in FY2025. This is lower than the 8% growth estimated for FY2024.
The survey also projects that the fiscal deficit will moderate to 5.9% of GDP in FY2025 from 6.4% in FY2024.
However, the survey also flags some challenges that the Indian economy faces, including rising inflation, global economic slowdown, and geopolitical tensions.
