MTV VMAs: Taylor Swift chases Beyoncé record; Chappell Roan, Sabrina Carpenter to perform

Swift needs two wins to match Beyoncé's all-time record of 32

The nominees for the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards were announced Tuesday, and Taylor Swift leads the pack with five nominations. She is up for Video of the Year for "All Too Well (10 Minute Version) (Taylor's Version)," Best Collaboration for "I Bet You Think About Me (Taylor's Version)" with Chris Stapleton, Best Direction, Best Editing and Best Longform Video for "All Too Well (10 Minute Version) (Taylor's Version).

If Swift wins two of those awards, she will tie Beyoncé for the most VMAs won by any artist in history. Beyoncé currently holds the record with 32 wins.

Other top nominees include Kendrick Lamar, who has four nominations, and Doja Cat, Drake, Ed Sheeran, Harry Styles and Lil Nas X, who each have three nominations.

Chappell Roan, Sabrina Carpenter to perform

Rapper Chappell Roan and singer-songwriter Sabrina Carpenter will perform at the VMAs. Roan is nominated for Best New Artist, while Carpenter is nominated for Best Collaboration for her song "Skinny Dipping" with Swae Lee.

The 2023 MTV Video Music Awards will be held on August 28 at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. Jack Harlow will host the show.
